Sports Apparel
Sports apparel is different from regular clothing because it is created to enhance performance, wick moisture away from the skin and keep the athlete cool or warm at the same time. Extensive design goes into most of these articles to provide the ultimate comfort without interfering with the activity. The clothing is made from certain fabrics that allow airflow but yet provide insulation if needed.
For sports apparel that is to be worn in warm environments, the designers must first use a material that will pull perspiration away from the skin. The garment cannot be too loose because fabric moving across moist skin will cause chafing. So even though they pieces are tight to the skin they still must allow air flow so the moisture can evaporate.
Sports apparel that is worn in cold environments must also pull moisture away from skin but it needs to retain body heat at the same time. Many of these items will also have an outer layer that prevents further moisture like rain or snow from saturating the article. Activities in the cold usually mean a tight moisture wicking undergarment will be worn under a layer or two of a water-proof material such as Gore-tex.
